Onuachu Scores 35th Goal As Dessers Nets Winner In Genk's 2-1 Away Win Agianats Anderlecht

Paul Onuachu scored his 35th goal of the season as Genk beat Anderlecht 2-1 away from home in the Belgian league play-offs, Complete Sports report.

The Super Eagles star opened the scoring for his club in the 16th minute before former Man City star of Nigerian descent Lukas Nmecha equalizedfor Anderlecht in the 31st minute.

However, another Super Eagles star Cyriel Dessers got the much needed winner in 86th, 10 minutes after coming on for Onuachu.

That was his first goal since December 6, 2020 and has now scored five goals in 32 appearances in all competitions this term.

With the win, Genk move on 38 points in the four-team league title play-offs just two points behind leaders Club Brugge.

Onuachu's Genk will now welcome Royal Antwerp in their next game on Thursday, May 20.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Belgian club Genk have reportedly rejected Lazio's N12.5 billion (€25m) bid for Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu.

The 26-year-old has been superb for his club this season.

The Super Eagles star is wanted by a number of top European clubs but his employers will only entertain what is termed as a good deal.

Genk turned down the €25m offer from the Serie A outfit with the aim of making more money on the player.

The publication says they want to sell him for €25m. The former Belgian Pro League champions bought Onuachu for €6m two years ago from Danish outfit FC Midtjylland.

Onuachu made his national team debut in 2019 and has already grabbed three goals in 10 appearances - the last two coming against Benin Republic and Lesotho earlier this year.

And with two goals in his last two games for the Super Eagles, he is fast becoming a key member of coach Gernot Rohr's team.

He is also part of Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr 31-man for the international friendly game against Cameroon billed for Wiener Neustadt Stadium in Austria next month.

This is part of the Nigeria Football Federation's plan to keep the national team prepared for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia in September.
