Leicester City are already planning to offer the latest Premier League player of the month winner Kelechi Iheanacho a new contract.
The 24-year-old has witnessed a huge turnaround in his performances for the Foxes in recent times which led him to score five goals in three EPL games and eventually winning a prize for it.
He became the fourth Nigerian star after the likes of Jay-Jay Okocha, Peter Odemwingie, and Odion Ighalo to have clinched the prestigious award.
Super Eagles star Iheanacho reveals why he failed to score in AFCON qualifiers despite his form for Leicester
The Foxes manager has however hailed the attacker ahead of their clash against his former club Manchester City this weekend.
Rodgers insisted according to Complete Sport that the Super Eagles forward has greatly improved and that should earn him an improved contract to remain at the King Power Stadium beyond the summer of 2024.
“He’s definitely someone we would want to have. You’ve seen the development and the improvements, that’s what you aim to have, a squad that is getting better and that can contribute for you.
“I’m pretty sure there will be something organised between him and his representatives. You’re seeing a young player now at the top of his game.
Iheanacho has scored 12 goals and five assists in 28 appearances across competitions for the Foxes so far this season and he could improve the tally before the season wraps up.
He has also broken a number of player's records in the FA Cup despite playing lesser games and scoring more, but he is not done scoring as they will face-off with Southampton in the semifinals this month.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that he could not score in any of Nigeria's AFCON 2022 qualifiers claiming African football is different from that of Europe.
The 24-year-old who was named the Premier League Player for the month of March said he will be looking forward to prove himself in the AFCON tournament in Cameroon when he makes his debut.
