Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said it is highly unlikely the club will buy another highly-rated striker to replace Sergio Aguero in the summer.

The Argentine has confirmed his exit from the Etihad Stadium at the end of this season - putting an end to his 10-year reign at the club.

When the 32-year-old announced he will depart from the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola was already eyeing Erling Haaland and Harry Kane as replacements for the club legend.

"I don't know what is going to happen but at these prices, we are not going to buy any striker. It's impossible. We cannot afford it. All the clubs are struggling financially, us as well. Today there is more chance we will not buy a striker next season."

BBC reports that Borussia Dortmund have reportedly placed a 150 million euros price tag on Haaland, who has also been linked with Barcelona.

The Norwegian has a deal with the German League side until 2024 with a staggering 75m Euros release clause included on his contract.

Kane is another option for Manchester City, but his contract with Tottenham Stadium will not expire until the summer of 2024.

In truth, City will have to sign a very expensive striker if they are to directly replace Aguero, who is the club’s all-time goal scorer.
