The country’s movie industry, Nollywood, is a booming one and it has brought out a number of great talents such as Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Omoni Oboli, Chioma Akpotha, Kate Henshaw to name a few.

In recent times, some Nigerian movies have caused a lot of buzz, both online and offline. Some of them even sparked debates among its viewers as they picked one or two lessons from it.

Some of the popular Nigerian movies in recent times include Funke Akindele’s Omo Ghetto the Saga, Ebony Life’s Oloture and Toyin Abraham’s Fate of Alakada.

To make things easier for its readers, Legit.ng gave them the chance to vote for the Nigerian movie they felt had the most impact in recent times.

The movies on the poll were Omo Ghetto the Saga, Fate of Alakada and Oloture. It churned out interesting results.

Omo Ghetto the Saga topped the poll after gathering 74.8% of the votes. There was a huge gap between the winning movie and the second position that was taken by Oloture with 12.3% of the votes. Alakada had 3.9% of the votes.

Legit.ng recently reported that weeks after ranking among top movies of the year 2020, Omo Ghetto: The saga shattered existing box office records to become the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time.

The record was previously held by The Wedding Part (One); another star-studded movie from the camp of top media executive, Mo Abudu’s Ebonylife Films. The Wedding Party which was directed by Kemi Adetiba garnered N453,000,000 from cinema runs.

Omo Ghetto broke the record with an earning that currently stands at N468,036,300.
