- The race for the 2023 presidential election is expected to take shape in the year 2021
- Majority of the contenders are also expected to start declaring their intentions in the new year
- One name that has kept on coming up in the permutations is Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the executive governor of Kogi state
Campaign posters of Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello have surfaced on some major roads in Kano state, Daily Trust reports.
The posters carrying inscriptions suggesting the governor’s 2023 presidential ambitions, were spotted in some areas of the foremost northern commercial city.
According to the report, the posters do not bear any party’s logo but there was a big inscription which reads: ‘For generational change 2023, vote Yahaya Bello for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.’
The posters were pasted at strategic locations in the state, including parts of Murtala Muhammad Way, Airport road, and Sani Marshal road.
Other areas where the posters were spotted include Race Course road, Bompai road, and some parts of Kano Government House streets.
Some Nigerians on Twitter have been commenting on the posters.

Recall that all members of the Kogi state House of Assembly recently called on Governor Bello to put his hat in the ring for the presidency in 2023.
According to the lawmakers, the governor ticked all the right boxes for the presidential seat and should be backed by all Nigerians to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Before then, the Kogi state commissioner for information and communication, Kingsley Fanwo, had announced on social media that Governor Bello was under pressure to contest the 2023 presidential race.
The commissioner went on to say the desire of Nigerians for a great country aligns with that of Governor Bello.
Meanwhile, amid calls from his associates to contest the 2023 presidential election, Governor Bello declared that he is focused on delivering his mandate of rebuilding Kogi state now.
He made the comment on Monday, December 21, 2019, at the security and economic summit of the Northcentral Governors Forum in Benue state.
