Ahead of the 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra, Senator Walid Jibrin has said the place of Igbos in Nigerian politics will be determined by the southeastern state's governorship poll.

In a report by The Nation, Jibrin called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders to begin grassroots mobilisation to make winning a reality as the party has all it takes to emerge victorious at the 2021 election.

Jibrin, the chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the disclosure during a reception for the chairman in the state, Ndubuisi Nwobu, over the weekend.

While expressing satisfaction about the party’s unity, Nwobu assured the PDP national leadership that the party would do everything legitimately possible to win and produce a governor.

The forthcoming governorship election has torn the PDP apart as the party disowned an alleged zoning arrangement.

A former governor of the state, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, and some prominent members of the party had at a meeting and supported the zoning of the 2021 governorship position to Anambra South senatorial zone.

The PDP chairman in the state, however, disowned the zoning agreement on Wednesday, August 26.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has reportedly handed its forthcoming governorship ticket to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
