All invited players are already in camp and hours before the showdown, Legit.ng take a quick look at the most inseparable pairs in the current Super Eagles team.
1. Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi
Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi have taken their friendship to a whole new level in recent times and both players are back into the Super Eagles squad for the AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone.
Abdullahi almost missed out on the party, but he earned a late call up by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr as a replacement for injured Frank Onyeka.
He has a chance to once again be reunited with his ‘brother’ Musa in the squad as both stars are always seen sharing moments together. A visit to either of the players' Instagram page respective shows they are indeed brothers.
Abdullahi once told Nigerian outlet The Nation:
“He is more or less my brother. I tell him almost everything about myself. I call him when I have a problem or an issue to resolve and his advice has been very crucial to me. He also shares his problem with me."
2. Chidozie Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo
These players are inseparable in the Super Eagles’ squad – and while Awaziem was born in Enugu state, Omeruo hails from Abia state.
Although Omeruo is more experienced with the national team, having capped 52 times for Nigeria and one goal to his name, his friend turn brother Awaziem has so far made 17 appearances.
3. Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze
Rave of the moments Osimhen and Chukuwueze are Nigeria’s hottest players in Europe. It is evident that the duo shares a bond that will 'last forever'.
While Osimhen continued to get the goals at Italian club Napoli, Chukwueze has continued to mesmerise defenders down the flank of the Villarreal attack.
They have remained friends since their days in the Golden Eaglets winning 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup together with Osimhen finishing as the tournament’s highest goal scorer with 10 goals, while Chukwueze ended the tournament with 3 goals and 3 assists.
During the summer, both players were spotted holidaying in Paris, they are back to the Nigerian national team and are expected to light up the show.
4. William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun
Ekong once told GOAL:
"He has been very good, I think we have good understanding. Leon has more experience, he came one year before I played my first game for the Super Eagles."
You need to see how they connect and relate with each other when they return to the national team camp – an inseparable pair.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that in adherence to the directives from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Nigeria's game against Sierra Leone will be played without fans in the stadium.
But that did not stop football-loving fans from marching to the stadium to welcome the players as they arrived for a closed-door training.
One player, in particular, seems to be the fans' favourite as the players got down from the team bus and that is Victor Osimhen.
