1. Assassin's Creed II

Which Assassin's Creed game should I play first? Most people agree that if you would like to play Assassin's Creed in order, Assassin's Creed II should be played first.
It is a direct follow-up to the first game that takes place immediately after its modern-day events, all the while making a significant leap to Renaissance-era Italy.

2. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Odyssey, which was released in late 2018, takes place several hundred years before Origins. It focuses on the Hellenic world and the Peloponnesian War and allows the player to choose which side they wish to fight for.
The game also allows the player to pick between two protagonists whose names are Alexios and Kassandra. Both are mercenaries and descendants of King Leonidas.
It features plenty of RPG elements, a huge open world to explore, and a wide selection of weapons. It also marks the return of naval combat, which is similar to what was already seen in Black Flag and Rogue.
3. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Brotherhood is a continuation of Ezio’s story, and it ranks third in the list of Assassin's Creed games. It does not deviate much from the mechanics of Creed II.
Instead, it simply builds upon them by adding a new management system that allows the player to recruit people as killers whom they can call upon for help in combat or send on missions that will yield rewards.
4. Assassin's Creed: Origins

Although Origins is not the newest Assassin's Creed release, it is among the latest and most notable releases in the Assassins Creed order.
Origins broke the years-long stagnation of the franchise by introducing some major changes in both the settings and the gameplay.
The game takes us all the way back to Ptolemaic Egypt and greatly refreshes the stale game formula with a new combat system and RPG elements.
A big change that was made to the combat system was the introduction of hitboxes instead of the paired animation system of the previous games. As a result, the player can damage multiple enemies with a single attack.
In a similar fashion, it is easier for multiple enemies to overwhelm the player. As such, the game provides a more dynamic combat experience that feels so fresh and fluid.
For these reasons, avid gamers have ranked it high in the Assassin's Creed order.
5. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Black Flag ranks fifth in the list of all Assassin's Creed games in order. Like its predecessor, it is set in the Colonial era, although it takes place several decades prior to the events of the Creed III release.
The player assumes the role of Edward Kenway, the grandfather of the previous game’s protagonist.
It places a lot of importance on naval exploration and it adopts a more open-world approach than any of the games that came before it.
Apart from the upgradeable ship, the ability to build up the killer’s guild as is the case in Brotherhood and the improved naval combat, the developers did not introduce any other major components.
6. Assassin's Creed Rogue

Rogue is special because it was the last game to be set in the Colonial era. It is also the first and only game to have the player assuming the role of a Templar instead of that of a killer.
It also features some gameplay changes, most notably, a greater accent on some more conspicuous of weapons, such as the grenade launcher.
Rogue continues the naval exploration trend of its predecessor, moving the setting from the Caribbean to the Arctic. However, the developers did not make any big changes to the core mechanics apart from the addition of new weapons.
7. Assassin's Creed Syndicate

- Platforms: PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One
Syndicate ranks seventh on this Assassin's Creed play order list. It is unique because it takes a minor temporal step ahead of Unity in terms of the setting.
It moves from Revolution-era Paris to the Victorian era in London. It is the first game in the series to feature multiple protagonists, as both of the Frye twins, Jacob and Evie, are playable throughout the game.
The only notable additions are a selection of new melee and ranged weapons. The multiplayer aspect of the game was omitted.
8. Assassin’s Creed III

This game ranks high in the Assassin's Creed list as it was developed to take place during the American Revolutionary War.

9. Assassin's Creed: Revelations

In the Assassin's Creed game order, Revelations is the final chapter of Ezio’s story. It features a dramatic shift in setting, migrating from Italian cities, such as Firenze and Rome, to the heart of the Ottoman Empire in Istanbul.
Unfortunately, there are no major changes in regards to the core gameplay mechanics, as they remain mostly the same.
Even so, Revelations remains one of the more unforgettable entries in the series because it wraps up Ezio’s story quite nicely so it is able to pluck at the heartstrings of the original game’s fans.
10. Assassin's Creed

This is an unforgettable and must-play game from the Assassin's Creed chronology. It features an interesting take on storytelling by using genetic memory as a means of throwing us back to the Medieval Ages in the Middle East.
One notable aspect of this fascinating game is that it devolves into repetition fairly quickly.
11. Assassin's Creed Unity

- Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows
Unity puts a greater accent on RPG elements because it allows a greater deal of customization of the character and their playstyle than what was seen in the previous entries.
Among all Assassin's Creed games, Unity is unique because it was the first game to feature cooperative multiplayer, but it did not expand much upon the core formula apart from adding more weapons.
Another notable addition was the Phantom Blade, which is the crossbow and the traditional Hidden Blade combined into a single weapon.
