Bayelsa election: Governor Dickson made our victory 'much easier' - Sylva

- The minister of state for petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva, has revealed why APC had a landslide victory in Bayelsa

- INEC had on Monday, Sunday, November 17, declared the candidate of APC, David Lyon, the winner of the governorship election held in Bayelsa state on Saturday, November 16

- Sylva, however, noted that Dickson's poor performance in the state contributed to APC's victory

The success recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Saturday, November 16 governorship election, in Bayelsa, has been attributed to the poor performance of the incumbent governor of the state, Seriake Dickson.

Premium Times reports that the former governor of the state and minister of state for petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva, thanked Governor Dickson for making it much easier for the candidate of the APC, David Lyon, to win the election.

Legit.ng gathered that he disclosed this after presenting Lyon to President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja on Monday, November 18.

He said: “It’s been a very hectic week but I will like to bring in this Eritrean proverb, that if you marry a wife very well, you will be blessed with another wife. Governor Dickson, unfortunately, made our job very easy because he married the wife very badly. Of course, this proverb pre-supposes that if you marry a wife badly, you will not get another wife.

“So, he did not marry the state very well, so the state roundly rejected him. Like it’s been said earlier, we had a good candidate and when you have a good product it’s very easy to sell it. So, we went around and sold this good to Bayelsans and the result was an overwhelming success."

He said the victory gives the party a footprint in the Niger Delta, which according to him is very key to them, adding that, "it gives us more of a national outlook, we have always been a national party but this gives us even a bigger national outlook.’’
