Breaking: Former president Obasanjo shows up at PDP rally in Abeokuta

Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, reportedly showed up at a rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, on Monday, July 9, years after dumping the organisation.

The New Telegraph said Obasanjo made a surprise appearance at the mega rally organised by the Ogun state chapter of party.

The report said the event held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) complex in Abeokuta.

It was learnt that the former president greeted PDP members and supporters who had converged to round off the familiarization visits of a House of Representatives member and governorship aspirant, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu.

Details of the appearance were still sketchy at the time of this report.

Legit.ng earlier reported how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was planning to welcome three governors from the north who have been with the All Progressives Congress (APC) as crisis continues in the ruling party.

The report said with the successful defection of the three governors, at least 30 senators and 70 members of the House of Representatives will follow suit just before they embark on recess soon.

The report said those likely to defect are members of the members of the Reformed-APC.

Legit.ng also reported that the Peoples Democratic Party signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and 31 others.
