Gunmen storm Delta communities, kidnap monarch

- The gunmen suspected to be herdsmen, abducted the Olisewokwu on the evening of Sunday, June 3
- Indigenes of Ezi and Olona and motorists traveling to Issele-Uku through Idumu-Ogo were said to have been attacked by the gunmen
The chairman of Aniocha North local government traditional rulers’ committee and the Obi of Ogodor, HRM Sunday Olisewokwu, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.
He was abducted by masked men between neighbouring Ezi and Onicha-Olona communities in Delta state, on the evening of Sunday, June 3.
Legit.ng notes that the abduction was confirmed on Monday, June 4, by family sources, who said that two aides of the monarch were wounded in the process by the gunmen numbering about seven.

Those attacked by the gunmen included indigenes of Ezi and Olona and motorists traveling to Issele-Uku through Idumu-Ogo.
As at the time of filing this report, the gunmen have not made contact with either members of the royal family or the Obi-in-Council comprising traditional chiefs of the kingdom.
According to a community source, a rescue operation is currently ongoing by a search team comprising of members of local vigilance groups in Ogodo, Olona and Ezi.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a paramount ruler in Bokkos local government area of Plateau state was killed by unknown gunmen in the state.
According to the state's police commissioner, Oladunjoye Adekunle, who made the revelation to newsmen, three other people lost their lives during the incident.
He said: "The late monarch was on his way from his farm where he took some laborers to work for him on his farm. On their way back, the gunmen open fire on the Chief’s driver, this made the driver to loose control and the vehicle ended up in a dish."
