He became the joint-highest goals scorer in a 38-match season after scoring 31 goals, and should he score in his side’s last match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, he would have successfully set a new goal record in the league.

The former Chelsea star also became the first African player to score 30 goals in a single campaign, and the only man to win three EA SPORTS Player of the Month awards in the same season.

Reacting to the award, Salah said: "I am very happy, I am very proud to win it.

"They say I didn't have success here the first time, so it was always in my mind to have success here in the Premier League."

He was crowned the winner of the prestigious award after receiving the most combined votes from a panel of experts, Premier League captains and fans via a public vote.
