Federal government to launch open website

In the next two weeks, the Nigerian federal government will open a website that will convey detailed and updated information and data about its achievements and progress in different sectors of the economy.
Legit.ng gathered that the government is considering a mechanism that would help measure the country’s corruption index to avoid relying on indices from foreign organizations.
Boss Mustafa, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) announced these on Monday, May 7, in Abuja at the opening of the 2018 Open Government Partnership week.

Mustafa said the new website would be linked to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in an effort to make government activities more open and transparent to Nigerians.
“Our story is best told by us. We should never expect third parties to see our corruption problems better than us.
“More than at any time in history, this government is waging an unprecedented war against corruption through: Asset recovery, prosecution of acts of corruption, instituting new culture and rebuilding anti-corruption institutions,” he said.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be will be delivering a keynote address at the event where civil society groups and citizens would interact with campaigners on the impact of open governance, transparency and accountability.
Those in attendance at the event include the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, as well as the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zanaib Ahmed.
The week-long event will end on. Friday with a rally in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Legit.ng previously reported that the federal government launched a regional disease surveillance systems enhancement (REDISSE) to quicken response to epidemics.

REDISSE project was set up by the World Bank to cover all West African countries in the wake gaps shown by the 2014 Ebola outbreak in the region.
Chikwe Ihekweazu, chief executive of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), said REDISSE, was financed through a World Bank credit.
