John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, was a celebrated Nigerian actor and comedian renowned for his slapstick humour and expressive performances.
He gained widespread fame with the 2004 film Mr. Ibu, which became his moniker.
Over his career, he featured in more than 200 Nollywood films, including Mr. Ibu in London, 9 Wives, and Police Recruit.
In 2015, he married Stella Maris Okafor, and together they had several children. In late 2023, Mr Ibu faced severe health challenges, leading to the amputation of one leg due to a blood clot.
Despite multiple surgeries, he passed away from cardiac arrest on March 2, 2024. His legacy endures through his memorable roles and the joy he brought to audiences.
