Hope Odidika Uzodimma is a Nigerian politician who has served as the governor of Imo State since 2020. He began his political career in 1983 during the Second Republic when he joined the ruling National Party of Nigeria (NPN). He rose to become the Imo state youth leader.
In the 1990s, he decamped to the United Nigeria Congress Party. In 2003, he was the Alliance for Democracy party's candidate for the Imo State gubernatorial election, which he lost to Achike Udenwa. He decamped to the PDP in February 2004 and contested the PDP governorship primaries in December 2006, coming in second to Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.
Uzodimma as a senator
In January 2011, Uzodimma won the PDP senatorial primary for Imo West. On June 6, 2011, he was sworn in as a senator and was re-elected for a second term in the Senate in 2015.
Governor of Imo State
Hope Uzodimma assumed office as Imo state governor after a Supreme Court ruling on January 15, 2020, and on May 31, 2023, he emerged as chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum. He was re-elected for a second term in 2023.
