Former Real Madrid Manager Backed To Replace Struggling Ruben Amorim at Manchester United
- Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has been linked with the Manchester United job, but would require guarantees
- This comes after Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford leaves them 14th in the Premier League table
- Ruben Amorim remains defiant, insisting he is focused on improving results at Old Trafford
Manchester United is under pressure to sack Ruben Amorim after a 3-1 defeat to Brentford once again derailed the club’s bid to climb the Premier League table.
The defeat has intensified rumours linking the Red Devils with former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who has been out of management since 2021.

Manchester United’s momentum from last weekend’s victory over Chelsea evaporated as Brentford struck twice in the first half through Igor Thiago, leaving Amorim’s side chasing the game from the start.
Benjamin Sesko gave the Red Devils hope by scoring his first goal for the club, but Bruno Fernandes failed to convert a penalty that would have made it 2-2.
Deep into stoppage time, Mathias Jensen sealed the game for the hosts, sending United home empty-handed and sparking boos from the away fans.
According to the BBC, the result leaves Manchester United languishing in 14th place with just seven points, piling further pressure on Amorim, who has now overseen 33 league games without securing back-to-back wins.
Zidane tipped to become Man United manager
Rumours of a managerial change are growing louder, with Zinedine Zidane once again touted as a potential replacement, Manchester Evening News reports.
The legendary Frenchman, who led Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles, has been without a club since leaving Los Blancos four years ago.
Emmanuel Petit, Zidane’s former France teammate, suggested that Zidane would only accept the job if Manchester United met certain conditions.
“Zizou needs guarantees if he wants to sign over there,” Petit said.
“Manchester United is still a huge club, but not on the pitch anymore. He would want quality players and a clear plan before committing.”
Petit also hinted that Zidane’s reluctance to work outside Spain, coupled with language barriers, could complicate any potential deal.
Amorim remains defiant despite pressure
Despite mounting calls for his sack, Ruben Amorim insists he is not worried about losing his job at Manchester United. And, as published on Manchester United website, he said:
"We need to win every game, and we are not doing that."

Manchester United’s club executives have publicly backed Amorim on several occasions, but his failure to put together results is increasing fan frustration.
Supporters are calling for stability and a clearer sense of direction as the Red Devils continue to drift further away from the league’s top contenders.
With Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal already establishing themselves in the title race, Manchester United face a crucial few weeks, both on and off the pitch, as they weigh whether to stand by Amorim or make a bold move for Zidane.
Richards wants Amorim sacked
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that there are growing calls for Amorim's sack, and former Manchester City defender Micah Richards believes the tactician's stubbornness could see him losing his job soon.
The Red Devils have only managed 34 points in the English top flight from 33 matches played under the Portuguese manager.
