  • Micah Richards says Manchester United’s patience with Amorim is “not working” after another defeat
  • Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Brentford extends their winless away run to eight games in all competitions

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has addressed growing calls for his sack after a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Brentford left the Red Devils languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

The latest defeat erased every atom of hope from last week’s victory over Chelsea and further intensified the scrutiny on Amorim’s tenure.

Despite mounting criticism, Amorim insists he is not worried about his future at Old Trafford.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, the Portuguese tactician said:

“I am never concerned about my job. I am not that kind of guy. It is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here.”

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager has now collected just 34 points from his 33 league games in charge, failing to guide United to back-to-back wins in the Premier League since his appointment.

Manchester United’s hierarchy has consistently expressed support for Amorim, but stressed that results like this make that stance harder to defend.

Micah Richards questions Man United’s patience

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has publicly questioned Manchester United’s continued backing of Amorim, suggesting that his rigid approach may ultimately cost him his job.

“I think because Ruben Amorim is being so stubborn in what he’s trying to do, it could be the undoing of him down the line,” Richards said as quoted by Manchester Evening News.
“We can talk about the owners backing him, but ultimately it’s just not working.”

The defeat to Brentford also pointed to Manchester United’s ongoing struggles away from home.

Bruno Fernandes missed his second penalty of the season, compounding a night where the Red Devils struggled to take control even before Trevoh Chalobah’s red card changed the momentum.

Brentford took full advantage, with two goals coming in stoppage time to seal the win.

Amorim admitted after the game that his team is failing to apply his tactical approach consistently.

With no midweek fixtures to shift attention, pressure is mounting on the Manchester United manager to find solutions before the next league match.

Fans and pundits alike are beginning to wonder how much longer the club’s patience will hold before the Portuguese manager is fired at Manchester United.
