Nigerian Afrobeats Star Burna Boy Names His Top 3 GOATs, Ronaldo, Messi Missing, Video

Afrobeats star Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has caused a stir on social media.

Burna Boy has named three football players, who he believes are the Greatest of All Time (GOATs).

The Nigerian singer has linked up with several football stars, including Arsenal player Noni Madueke (at the Wireless Festival in London, last July) and Vinicius Jr, who is also a big fan.

The songwriter got his biggest shoutout from England manager Sarina Wiegman when she won the manager of the year at the 2025 Ballon d'Or on Monday, September 23. She said:

"Let's celebrate our successes too and if Burna Boy is around maybe we could do a little bit of dancing too," per BBC.

Burna Boy mentions his GOATs

Afrobeats star Burna Boy has mentioned two Nigerians and one Brazilian as his top three GOATs.

In a viral post on X, the songwriter named Super Eagles legend, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Brazil legend Ronaldinho, and Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen.

  1. Austin Jay Jay Okocha

Born in Enugu, Nigeria, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, one of the most gifted footballers of his generation, can be described as a model for every midfielder.

The 51-year-old remains renowned for his dazzling dribbling, creativity, and flair.

The former Super Eagles captain played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations victory in 1994 with his leadership and technical brilliance, having featured in five AFCON tournaments.

Okocha was also a key member of Nigeria’s ‘Dream Team,’ which won a gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

He won the BBC African Footballer of the Year award twice, in 2003 and 2004.

2. Ronaldinho

Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Ronaldinho is regarded as one of the greatest players in the world till date.

According to Sky Sports, the 43-year-old remains the only player to have won a Copa America, a Confederations Cup, a Champions League, a Copa Libertadores, and a Ballon d'Or.

The former Brazil captain won three La Liga titles with Barcelona, bagging FIFA World Player of the Year twice.

3. Victor Osimhen

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Victor Osimhen can be described as one of the best strikers of his generation.

The 26-year-old kicked off his career winning the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, including the Golden Boot and Silver Ball. In 2015, he won the Africa U17 Golden Boot and emerged CAF Youth Player of the Year.

The Nigerian international guided Napoli to win the Serie A in the 2022/23 season after 30 years, winning the best striker of the season.

His performance ensured he won the 2023 CAF Player of the Year, and finished runner-up in the 2023 AFCON.

The former Lille player won the Turkish Super Lig, and Turkish Cup in the 2024/25 season, and finished as the top scorer.

Burna Boy surprises Wiegman

Legit.ng earlier reported that Afrobeats star Burna Boy thrilled England manager Sarina Wiegman during the Three Lionesses’ Women's Euro 2025 trophy parade.

Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy, who is Wiegman’s favourite artiste, was invited to perform, and she caught the Dutch tactician by surprise.
