Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche from Getafe on a season-long loan for £17.3 million (₦35 billion).

Palace beat Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley Stadium to win the 2024/25 FA Cup, signifying their first-ever major trophy.

Crystal Palace lost talented midfielder Eberechi Eze to Arsenal and has been scouting a suitable replacement before landing the 2025 Unity Cup winner Christantus Uche.

The 22-year-old becomes the fifth signing of the club this summer, following the arrival of Jaydee Canvot, Yeremy Pino, Walter Benitez, and Borna Sosa.

Uche expressed delight at joining Palace after his collapsed deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers. He said:

“This moment is unbelievable. I'm very lucky to be here today and this club is a big opportunity for me," per Tribal Football.

Christantus Uche's salary at Werder Bremen

Former Ceuta player Christantus Uche signed a one-year deal with FA Cup winner Crystal Palace, which is expected to end on June 30, 2026.

According to Capology, the 22-year-old will earn £10,000 (₦20 million)per week and a total of £520,000 (₦1 billion) per year, making him the fourth most expensive African in the squad.

Uche was reportedly earning £3,750 (₦7.6 million) per week and €195,000 (₦ 347 million) per year at Getafe in the 2024/25 La Liga season.

According to Football Espana, the La Liga side signed the Nigerian international from AD Ceuta for €500,000 (₦891 million), selling him for over 40 times his amount (€20 million)

Before his departure, Uche scored one goal and an assist in the 2025/26 La Liga season.

Chrisantus Uche's journey to La Liga is remarkable. Born in Owerri, the striker only played local football before FC Moralo invited him to Spain in 2022.

Following his impressive performance, the 22-year-old was promoted to the senior team and made 11 appearances for the club.

In 2023, Uche joined Primera Federacion side AD Ceuta FC for €800 and made the pre-season squad despite being assigned to team B.

He went on to make 34 appearances for the club last season, and even though he was not on the scoresheet, the forward attracted interest from rival clubs.

The Super Eagles star began his La Liga chapter on an impressive note, scoring on his debut for Getafe against Athletic Club.

Uche involved in car crash

Legit.ng earlier reported that a Nigerian international, Christantus Uche, was involved in a car crash on his way to Getafe training, sparking concerns among family and teammates.

It was gathered that the 22-year-old rammed the vehicle into a wall, leaving it significantly damaged, before a tow truck took it away.
