An agreement was already in place for the striker to join the Serie A powerhouse for a €5 million loan fee with a €24 million option to buy, per ESPN.
Boniface was already in town, but after failed medical tests on August 24, the deal collapsed, even though it was already in an advanced stage.
He was able to seal a move to Werder Bremen, and the striker is prepared to begin his spell with the four-time German Champions.
In his address, Boniface thanked his former teammate at Union-Saint Gilloise, Senne Lynen, who is now at Bremen. He told the club's website:
"Everything just happened so quickly, which I was pleased about. I had some great conversations with the people at Werder, which gave me a good feeling about the move. I’m so happy to be here.
"The last few weeks haven’t been easy for me. The people here at Werder told me their exact plans and it didn’t take them long to convince me. I was on board immediately and I am very pleased that it has come to be.

"Senne texted me four days ago just asking if I was alright and if there was a possibility of this move happening. I texted him back and said it would be difficult.
"I texted him again two days ago to tell him that things had changed slightly. He’s a good friend of mine and I had a great time with him in Saint-Gilloise.
"We’ve spoken a lot about how much he enjoys both the city and the club, which I found very helpful."
The 24-year-old also disclosed that he would love to create history at his new club, but added that there are no personal targets. He added:
"I never set myself any personal goals ahead of the season, such as scoring a certain amount of goals and so on.
"I want to be successful with the team and I want to win games. I’d love to do that with Werder this season."
