Nigeria will commence their race to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this month as the three-time AFCON winners take on Rwanda and South Africa.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) released a 23-man list that will prosecute the matches, with in-form striker Victor Osimhen leading the attack.
The Super Eagles have managed to win one match throughout their qualifying series, with Osimhen scoring both goals against Rwanda in Kigali.

Nigeria is currently under pressure to secure maximum points in Group C as they currently trail leaders South Africa with six points in six games.
The Super Eagles will host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, September 6, before travelling to Bloemfontein for a clash against rivals South Africa three days later.

3 Super Eagles players in Nigeria
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong is leading by example and has arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital, for the must-win encounter against the Amavubi of Rwanda.
In a video on X, the Al-Kholood Club defender was sighted in the company of goalkeeper Amas Obasogie of Singida Black Star.
Troost-Ekong has been outstanding during the qualifiers but was blamed for the late equaliser against Zimbabwe in the 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
Olympiacos defender Bruno Onyemaechi is the third Super Eagles player to touch down in the Land of Promise, out of the 23-man squad.
According to the NFF, camp officially opens on Tuesday, September 2.

Rwanda's advance party arrives in Nigeria
An official of the Rwanda delegation has arrived in Lagos ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Uyo.
According to Daily Post, the full delegation will land in Lagos on Tuesday, September aboard a Rwandair Airline flight at 1.15 pm, and will proceed to Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, by 4 pm of the same day.

With only seven points from six matches, Nigeria currently sit in fourth place, trailing group leaders South Africa by six points.
Rwanda and Benin Republic both sit above Nigeria with eight points each, while Lesotho are close behind with six.
Zimbabwe remain bottom with four points, making the group one of the most competitive in the qualifiers, per TnTSports.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, said William Troost-Ekong must be stripped of the captaincy for Nigeria to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Primate Ayodele also stressed the importance of having a capable back-up for first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, warning that depending solely on him could be risky if injuries or loss of form occur.
