Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand have boldly predicted the winner of the 2025/26 English Premier League.

The 2025/26 Premier League will kick off this weekend, with 20-time winners Liverpool trading tackles with Bournemouth on Friday night, August 15.

Brighton and Hove Albion tackle Fulham, Sunderland faces West Ham United, Aston Villa will take on Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur meet Burnley, while former champions Manchester City will face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, August 16.

FIFA Club World Cup winners Chelsea face Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest battles Brentford, while the star match is between Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford that afternoon on Sunday, August 17, per SkySports.

Who did Gerrard and Ferdinand tip to win the EPL?

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard and Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand said that six-time UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool will win the 2025/26 English Premier League title.

According to Daily Mail, the UCL winner predicted that Liverpool will retain their title while Arsenal to finish in second position for a fourth consecutive season.

Both players also made the same pick over the third and fourth position, naming Manchester City in third, while Chelsea in fourth, per Daily Post.

The Reds won the 2024/25 English top-flight title with 84 points, and Arsenal finished in second place with 74 points.

New signings

20-time Premier League winners Liverpool were extremely busy during the transfer window, securing the services of £116m Florian Wirtz and £79m Hugo Ekitike among several new additions.

Elsewhere, Arsenal finally signed Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres for £70m Viktor Gyokeres and former Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, while Manchester City can never be counted out of a title push while Pep Guardiola remains at the helm.

Chelsea will be heading back into the season off the back of a superb Club World Cup triumph against the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League winner, having strengthened in attack with the signings of Brazilian striker Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, per BBC.

Walcott, Defoe give different predictions

Former England stars Theo Walcott and Jermain Defoe have disagreed with the top four finish of Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand.

According to Arsenal Insider, Walcott and Defoe agreed that Liverpool would win the league ahead of other clubs.

Walcott tipped Manchester City to finish second, Arsenal third, and Chelsea fourth, while Defoe tipped Manchester City to finish second, Chelsea third, and Arsenal fourth

Legit.ng earlier reported that a prophetess, Bright Ndibunwa, popularly known as Bright The Seer, has predicted the winner of the 2025/26 English Premier League already.

In a trending video, the prophetess claimed the spirit of God also showed her the winner of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
