Victor Osimhen Breaks Unique Record in Turkey Following Transfer From Napoli to Galatasaray

Nigerian star Victor Osimhen set a huge milestone following his recent record fee transfer from Italian club Napoli to Turkish outfit Galatasaray.

The 26-year-old signed a €75 million deal, with €40 million paid upfront and €35 million to be paid in instalments.

It was reported that Napoli also secured a 10 per cent sell-on clause, and the forward cannot be sold to a Serie A club for two years.

According to DE-CIX Istanbul, his arrival in Istanbul on July 30 triggered an unprecedented surge in internet data traffic, reaching 505.26 Gbit/s just after 10:00 pm, the highest ever recorded.

Osimhen, who topped the Super Lig scoring chart last season while on loan at Galatasaray, captivated fans and dominated online platforms, NTV Spor.

On the day of his arrival, the social media space was awash with news and video streaming activity, which eventually broke the data flow.

DE-CIX Turkey regional director Bulent Sen disclosed that 500 Gbit/s equates to roughly 300,000 simultaneous TikTok video views, marking a 295% increase since early 2020 and a 34% rise since early 2025.

Galatasaray rakes in from Osimhen boxes

Meanwhile, Galatasaray has seen a financial windfall from Victor Osimhen's exclusive collector boxes, priced at 9,999 Turkish Lira (about €210) each.

Within days of their launch, 20,000 pre-orders have generated approximately 200 million Turkish Lira (roughly €4.2 million) in revenue.

The Turkish capital is buzzing with immense excitement surrounding the 26-year-old Nigerian striker’s €75 million transfer from Napoli.

The “Solo Il Gala” collector’s boxes, produced entirely with the club’s own resources, are sold through the club's GS Store platform.

Profits flow directly into the club’s coffers, bolstering their financial strategy following their significant investment in the Nigerian international.

Each box is designed to celebrate Osimhen’s second stint with Galatasaray, and it contains three exclusive items.

One is a specially crafted jersey with a unique serial number and a QR code on the tag, unlocking access to exclusive digital content, surprise messages, and platforms documenting this landmark moment in Galatasaray’s history.

Also included is a premium elastomer Osimhen mask with an adjustable strap and five stars printed on the front, along with a commemorative scarf featuring “Solo Il Gala” details.

Every jersey carries a personal touch from the striker, with a heartfelt message included in each box, per Afrik Foot:

"This jersey in the box is not my jersey, it is all of ours. Every time you wear it, remember our history, remember us."

Osimhen fires back at Lineker

Legit.ng earlier reported that Osimhen responded to Gary Lineker with a series of cryptic posts after the former England international raised concerns over his attitude.

The forward joined Galatasaray permanently after top European clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal, withdrew their interest in him.
