Former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil reportedly took a massive £282k-a-week pay cut just in his bid to dump Premier League club Arsenal where he earned £350,000, Daily Mail reports.

The midfielder moved to the North London club about eight years ago under Arsene Wenger, but subsequent managers have failed to involve him in their plans.

However, the former Real Madrid star has one major setback as he is expected to receive a loyalty bonus if he stays till the end of his contract, a waiver he would, of course, have to ditch by leaving this winter.

It was gathered that the German playmaker will now earn £67,300 at Turkish club Fenerbahce, but he could earn £445k bonus if they win the league

The 32-year-old arrived in Istanbul on Monday, January 18 and he is expected to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract.

It was gathered that the player’s deal to Fenerbahce deal is worth £3.5million a year or £67,300 a week - a substantial decrease on the £350,000 a week he was earning at Arsenal.

However, Ozil could reportedly top up his salary with various performance-related bonuses.

If Fenerbahce, who are currently second in the Turkish Super Lig, go on and win the title - their first since 2014 - he is in line to earn £445,000.

If they qualify for next season's Champions League, which would require a top-two finish, Ozil will reportedly receive £222,000.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta earlier appeared to admit that Ozil had played his last game for the club while insisting his legacy was not tarnished by the ordeal this season.

“What Mesut has done at the football club is unquestionable and that will stay. It doesn’t matter if he plays two more games, 10 more games or none."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that reports from London have it that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard could be fired if the Blues lose to Leicester City in the Premier League on Tuesday night, January 19.

The manager had been under intense pressure in recent times, and as the Blues play away at the King Power Stadium, nothing short of victory is expected by the Chelsea hierarchy.

Despite recent victories over Morecambe and Fulham, the manager has been under heavy criticisms following an earlier run of four defeats in six matches.
