Just In: Tinubu Makes 7 New Appointments, Full List Emerges

FCT, Abuja - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dalhatu Abubakar as chairman of the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX).

Tinubu also appointed six members of the governing board.

This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday, April 2, 2026, by the presidency via its X handle @NGRPresident.

The Presidency said the appointment will take immediate effect.

“The appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s commodity trading ecosystem, enhance price discovery, improve market transparency, and drive the expansion of non-oil exports.”

According to the statement, the appointment is part of efforts by President Tinubu’s administration to strengthen Nigeria’s commodity trading ecosystem and drive non-oil export growth.

The newly approved board members include:

  • Najah Muhammed (non-executive director)
  • Bamidele Hussein (non-executive director)
  • Mezuo Nwuneli (non-executive director)
  • Obi Igwe (non-executive director)
  • Foluso Ayo-Olaiya (non-executive director)
  • Anthony Atuche (managing director)

The presidency said the reconstituted NCX board is expected to provide the strategic oversight required to fully operationalise the exchange.

The new NCX board is also expected to attract investment into key areas such as warehousing, logistics, and trade infrastructure.

Who is new Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX) chairman?

The new NCX chairman is the chairman of Al-Hamsad Integrated Rice Mills and president of the Conference of Northern States Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (CONSCCIMA).

The presidency also said Abubakr, a Kano State indigene, previously served as president of the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA)

Tinubu announces new appointments

Recall that President Tinubu appointed Professor Shu’aibu Aliyu as the new executive secretary of PTDF.

Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz was reappointed as the CEO of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

President Tinubu emphasised commitment to advancing Nigeria's energy sector and national priorities.
