This marked the first official visit of the governor to the state house since he was reinstated by the president, following the six-month emergency rule that Tinubu declared in the state.

When did Fubara visit presidential villa?

According to Channels Television, the governor arrived at the presidential villa at 6:20 p.m. on Monday, September 22, and headed to the office of the president.

On March 18, 2025, President Tinubu suspended the governor, his deputy and the state's House of Assembly members from office, following a period of political unrest in the state.

The president suspended the emergency rule in the state on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

Governor Fubara was not in the state until Friday morning, September 19. He returned to the country and landed at the Port Harcourt International Airport, where hundreds of supporters were waiting for him.

Wike defends Fubara's absence in Rivers

Legit.ng earlier reported that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has explained that there is no law that compelled Governor Siminalayi Fubara to resume immediately.
