FCT, Abuja - A public affairs analyst, Donald Okwuosa, said former President Goodluck Jonathan can help the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to win the 2027 presidential election.
Okwuosa said Jonathan has a wealth of experience after serving the country for over 5 years as president.

He said if Jonathan backs Obi, his support will go a long way in boosting Obi's chances of clinching the presidential election.
The political analyst stated this during an exclusive chat with Legit.ng.
Okwuosa said Jonathan understands the games and intrigues having gone through the hurdles of contesting and winning a presidential election.
According to Okwuosa, Jonathan understands the pattern and can help Obi in checkmating President Tinubu.
“Goodluck Jonathan, being a former President has contested two presidential elections in Nigeria, winning the first and conceding defeat in the second. Having won a presidential election in the past, also, has been a two-time Nigerian president, with a whole lot of experiences. His wealth of experience would be a leverage for Peter Obi.”
Okwuosa said where Obi needs Jonathan is in the north as he is already a known and trusted candidate in the south
“Goodluck Jonathan is in the good books of the north. His regime favoured the north more than even their own brother Buhari. Presently, the north is still begging "Baba Jona" to come back to power, that they are sorry for what they did to him (betrayal) in 2015."

He added that:
“If Jonathan can hold Peter Obi by the hand and present him to the north and vouch to them by his integrity that Obi won't fail them, your guess is as good as mine.”
The analyst added that the north will support and vote for Obi if Jonathan ask them to vote for the former Anambra state governor.
“The north already knows Goodluck Jonathan, he is tested and trusted. Whoever he presents to the north and vouch for, the north will accept. His alignment with Obi makes Obi's grand breakthrough in the north very easy.”
He said Jonathan coupled with former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s support, Obi is sure to clinch the 2027 presidential election.
“Presently, former president Olusegun Obasanjo is standing with Obi. If Jonathan joins support, would be a reinforced endorsement for Obi in the north. Two trusted northern allies endorsing a candidate, the north would heed.”

Peter Obi, Obasanjo hold strategic closed-door meeting
Recall that Obasanjo and Obi held a strategic closed-door meeting to discuss Nigeria’s future ahead of the 2027 election.
The gathering, described as a meeting of “like minds,” focused on national challenges and the importance of civic engagement.
As political consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, speculation grows over Obi’s potential return to the presidential race.
Jonathan, Peter Obi in closed-door meeting
Legit.ng earlier reported that Jonathan met with Obi amid opposition plot to sack President Tinubu.
Obi disclosed that the meeting was held behind closed doors, while describing the former president as his leader, brother and statesman.
This came at a time the PDP said it was considering Obi or Jonathan for its presidential ticket and reiterated its readiness to sack President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
