"How Yahaya Bello Broke His Promise to Me": Ex-Deputy Gov Opens Up
Edward Onoja, the former deputy governor of Kogi, has claimed that the immediate past governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, earlier promised him to be his successor, but accused his ex-boss of betraying him when he endorsed Mohammed Ododo as his successor.
Speaking in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on "Mic On", the former deputy governor explained that some years before the 2023 elections, Yahaya Bello had called him and informed him that he would be the next governor of the state.

Ex-Governor Onoja noted that it was "disappointing when he told me he had chosen Ododo, because when a friend gives you his word, you expect him to be bound by it."

Cryptomania explained that since the former governor appointed Onoja as the deputy, he knew that he would not be governor. He said:
"When he made you deputy governor, that’s when I knew he won’t give you the main. But remember, you came from him; in all, the Kogi people suffered and still suffer."

Alex Okey recalled Onoja's contributions to Yahaya Bello's success. He explained:
"This Onoja took all the bullets for Yahaya against his Igala people, but got a huge disappointment in the end. “Don’t trust any man too much; he could change.”
