  • The former APC national chairman made the call on the former president while speaking at the 70th birthday celebration of Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe in Benin

Adams Oshiomhole, the senator representing Edo North, has made a subtle remark about the calls on former President Goodluck Jonathan to join the 2027 presidential election race, while speaking at the 70th birthday celebration of Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe in Benin, the Edo state capital.

Oshiomhole, who served the state as a two-term governor, urged the former president to continue to remain an elder statesman locally and internationally. Being the former national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Oshiomhole did not directly tell Jonathan not to contest.

2027 election: PDP leaders asked Jonathan to contest

Several Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bigwigs have been calling on the former President Jonathan to compete against President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the next cycle of the general election.

The PDP leaders, particularly from the northern bloc, have urged Jonathan to join the presidential race, considering the fact that he was only contesting for one term, having been defeated in his re-election bid in the 2015 poll, where late Muhammadu Buhari knocked him out of the poll.

Calls on Jonathan to join the race came amid alignment and realignment ahead of the poll, and opposition leaders are out looking for the strongest candidate to compete with Tinubu in 2027, particularly from the southern bloc.

Primate Ayodele warns Tinubu ahead of 2027

This came as President Tinubu was told to keep watching his back, as it has been foretold that there are three unnamed politicians in the country who can defeat him in the 2027 presidential election.

Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church made the claim in his latest prophetic message shared on his church page on Facebook.

The cleric maintained that, though people are talking about former President Goodluck Jonathan coming to contest the 2027 election against President Tinubu, the Bayelsa-born politician was not among the three who were revealed to him in his revelation.

However, the religious leader did not mention the names of the three who were revealed to him who can defeat the Nigerian president in the next election cycle.
