Former governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, has pledged his commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, promising to lead the campaign in the South-West region.

Tinubu deserves second-term - Ambode
Ambode made the pledge in Badagry, Lagos state, during a sensitisation programme on Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration.
As reported by Vanguard, Ambode urged residents to register and collect their PVCs ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking through the director-general of the Tinubu-Ambo support group, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, the former governor said President Tinubu had laid a strong foundation for Nigeria’s growth and deserved a second term to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far.
“President Bola Tinubu has proven his capacity to lead this country with vision and courage. I call on Lagosians and Nigerians at large to ensure he gets a second term in 2027 so we can all continue to benefit from his progressive leadership,” Ambode said.

Ambode declares intention to run as Lagos governor
Buttressing his call, Ambode also reiterated his intention to seek a return as governor of Lagos state, promising to build on past gains while addressing present realities.
The sensitisation programme, according to organisers, is aimed at mobilising residents for active participation in the democratic process.
“Our message is clear: no PVC, no voting. The group is committed to house-to-house sensitisation to ensure every eligible voter in Lagos registers and collects their voter card,” Bamigbade stated.

The event drew community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders who pledged support for both President Tinubu and Ambode ahead of the 2027 elections.

Legit.ng understands that Akinwunmi Ambode made this vow weeks after he as pledged his loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ambode said his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election is absolute and unshakable.
He promised to work together with others to ensure victory for President Tinubu in 2027 to continue delivering the dividends of democracy.
Ambode visits Sanwo-Olu after 5 years
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the stakes are high ahead of the 2027 election but Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is making moves to secure Lagos state for the ruling APC.
Part of Sanwo-Olu's bold moves is the meeting with his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who fell out during his supposedly second term with President Tinubu, his godfather.
Photos of Sanwo-Olu's meeting with Ambode emerged online and stirred a fresh conversation in the polity.

Legit.ng earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu met with his predecessors after leaving the office as governor of Lagos state in 2007.
At a reception organized for the President in Marina Lagos, former governor Babajide Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode, and current governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu were in attendance.
The event was the first of its kind when President Tinubu will be meeting with Ambode and other successors together.
