Buhari's minister met with Tinubu
Sirika, who served two terms under Buhari, made the claim while speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, September 3. At the same time, the former minister confirmed that he met with the President Tinubu's spokesperson at the presidential villa in Abuja on Tuesday, September 2.
His comment reads in part:
“Yesterday, I was with Chief Bayo Onanuga in the presidential villa, and he said I was in the coalition. I told him I was not and never will be. He said he got that from the reports. People can join a coalition; it is a democracy.”
The coalition, which was started by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that President Tinubu can only be defeated if the opposition leaders come together and contest under one umbrella.
Opposition leaders who have joined the coalition include former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, former governors of Rivers and Kaduna state, Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai.

Siriki vows to stay with Buhari
Earlier in July, the minister denied joining the coalition after being spotted at the movement's adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform ahead of the 2027 election.
Sirika explained that he would always align himself with Buhari, a stance that reflects the ex-president's position of unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), even as he acknowledged that anyone within his camp is free to associate with any political party.
