The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stirred controversy on social media after claiming that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has become a threat in Rivers state.

Wike, while speaking with some selected journalists in Abuja on Monday, September 1, said the level of federal appointments from the state has made the APC a threat to any other opposition parties in the oil-rich state.

The minister's comment came after the local government elections, where the APC won 20 of the 23 chairmanship seats in the state. Wike is serving as a minister under President Bola Tinubu, the APC leader in the country, and has consistently maintained his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

"Wike is very smart, honestly, even though he might not be as smart as PBAT, but he’s very smart. I wish he could talk less like PBAT. The LG where APC won was his handwork. He purposely left his LG and the other two for PDP because of this interview. Now nobody can say he was defeated in his LG."

"The PDP has to now expel Wike for anti-party activities.. He clearly helped rig the APC to control 20 of the 23 local government areas of Rivers State. He cut a disreputable deal with Tinubu."

University of Port Harcourt honours Wike

Legit.ng earlier reported that FCT minister Nyesom Wike was trending online after a video captured the moment he received an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).

In a viral video, the former governor of Rivers state danced joyfully and appreciated God after his conferment.

Lere Olayinka, an aide to the FCT minister, shared photos and videos of Wike celebrating the milestone with his friends and supporters, including the governor of Adamawa state.
