Governor Alia Speaks On Attempt to Remove Benue Speaker Dajoh

He made this known following speculations bothering on alleged attempts to impeach the Speaker, Dajoh.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, disclosed this in a statement issued and made available to Legit.ng on Friday, August 22, 2025.

According to the statement, Governor Alia said he consistently responds to communications and resolutions transmitted to him by the House.

The governor said a few days ago, he promptly upheld and implemented critical resolutions of the Assembly conveyed to his office.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governor said he enjoys a cordial and productive working relationship with the Dajoh-led Assembly.

He assured the people of Benue state that he remains committed to supporting the lawmakers in the discharge of their legislative duties for the overall development of the state.

"Governor Hyacinth Alia is not aware of, and has no involvement whatsoever in, any purported attempt to remove the Speaker or in any activities currently taking place in the Benue State House of Assembly.

Benue Assembly suspends four lawmakers

Legit.ng earlier reported that four lawmakers in Benue State were suspended for six months following an alleged plot to impeach the Speaker of the House of Assembly.

The suspension was triggered by a motion of urgent importance, accusing the legislators of attempting to destabilise the Assembly.

Speaker Aondona Dajoh also appointed a new spokesperson, replacing one of the suspended members. Dajoh announced the appointment of Audu Elias as the new spokesperson of the House. Elias replaces Alfred Berger, who previously held the position before his suspension.

Lawyers demand takeover of Benue, Zamfara assemblies

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that lawyers numbering over 1,000 stormed the premises of the National Assembly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
