Breaking: Tinubu Gives Minister Tijani New Role, Announces 19 Other Appointments, Full List Emerges

FCT, Abuja - President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, August 12, approved the board of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), with Bosun Tijani, the minister of communications, innovation, and digital economy, as chairman.

Per a statement shared by Bayo Onanuga, obtained by Legit.ng, Idris Olorunimbe was made the vice chairman while Aliyu Edogi Aliyu bagged the ministry of communications, innovation, and digital economy's representative role.

Tinubu names new NCC, USPF boards

Nine more members were approved by President Tinubu as members of the USPF board.

Legit.ng reports that the federal government created the USPF 'to facilitate the achievement of national policy goals for universal access and service to information and communication technologies (ICTs) in rural, unserved and underserved areas in Nigeria'.

In the same vein, President Tinubu constituted the boards of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), another agency under the supervision of the ministry of communications, innovation and digital economy.

Idris Olorunnimbe was appointed NCC chairman, while Aminu Waida remains its executive vice chairman/chief executive officer (CEO).

Legit.ng recalls that Tinubu appointed Waida to the position in October 2023, and the senate confirmed the appointment in November 2023.

Olorunnimbe previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) board, where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committee.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Tinubu appointed Chisom Obih to the governing council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi state.

Obih's appointment follows the death of a member of the council.

The president also appointed Professor Ralph Akinfeleye, a renowned communications specialist, to the governing council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun state.
