The man's post attracted attention online after it was circulated, with many people debating the father’s position on interfaith unions and personal values.
Identified as @Taoheed Abdulwasiu on Facebook, the man made it clear that he would welcome an approach from a Christian or traditionalist who wished to seek his daughter’s hand in marriage, provided the suitor came from a respectable household, possessed sound character, and had a stable source of income.
He emphasised that those qualities carried greater weight for him than doctrinal differences.
The man described himself as a Muslim but insisted that his outlook was rooted in a broader sense of humanity.
He explained that he rejected any reading of religion that encouraged hostility toward others because of their beliefs.
Speaking further, he referenced international relations as an example, arguing that major nations engaged with countries of different faiths, and questioned why ordinary individuals should adopt a more rigid stance.
He further stated that his perspective on dignity and respect would not be altered by criticism or intimidation.
He maintained that humanity took precedence over religious distinctions, and he was unwilling to compromise on that principle.
The young man added that if his views were unpopular with some people, they were free to disagree, but he would not be swayed from his conviction.
