The pastor said the church would need billions of naira to be donated by willing members who want to support the expansion.

His words:

"But right now, I need at least 10 of my children who can give me N1 billion each. And then I need 100 of my children who can give me N100 million each. And I need 1000 of my children who can give me N10 million each. And then I need the rest of you who can give me anything you want from N1 million to 2 to 3 or even N1,000."

He said:

"I’m an unrepentant critic of religious leaders and religious fraud but let’s be honest: Pa Adeboye has done nothing wrong in this case. He called his sons to give HIM money. Billions, and they turned up for him. He never asked them to give it to God and get blessed. He never said that God asked them to give Him the billions. He was sincere about it. “I want my sons to give me.” There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. If he had said, “God asked me to tell you to give Him billions.” I would be the first to call him out. In this case, I’m rather concerned about been able to raise sons and daughters that I can ask for billions and they will turn up. That’s fulfilment! That’s success!"
