Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has publicly mourned the death of veteran Yoruba actor Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing the loss as painful and irreplaceable for his family, Ogun State, and the Nigerian film industry.
The governor shared his condolences through his official Instagram account, @dapoabiodunmfr, expressing grief over the passing of the actor who hailed from Ilaro in Yewaland, Ogun State.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Ogogo died after a battle with stage four cancer.
This was confirmed by his daughter Kira in a live-streamed video on Sunday, August 23.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of veteran actor and illustrious son of Ogun State, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo).
"His death is a painful and irreplaceable loss to his family, the people of Ilaro and Yewaland, Ogun State and the entire Nigerian entertainment industry," Abiodun wrote.
Ogogo's legacy in Yoruba cinema
Abiodun paid tribute to Ogogo's decades-long contribution to Nollywood and Yoruba cultural heritage, noting that the actor's work reached audiences across generations.
"Ogogo was a cultural icon whose remarkable career brought joy to millions and contributed immensely to the growth of our film industry and the promotion of Yoruba culture and values," he said. "His legacy and contributions will undoubtedly live on for generations."
The governor extended condolences on behalf of his family, the Ogun State Government, and the people of the state to Ogogo's relatives, the Ilaro community, and the wider entertainment industry.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the actor's shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and give those he left behind the strength to bear the loss.
Ogogo, daughter warm hearts with funny posts
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that actor Ogogo's daughter, Kira Taiwo, got Nigerians talking over a post she made online.
The Yoruba film star spotted Kira's post on her Instagram page and reacted to it with surprise. Nigerians took to social media to react, as many laughed at the film star, saying he had finally eaten breakfast.
