Group hails Eseduwo at birthday, urges Bayelsa to consider him for deputy governor role
The Polivox, a grassroots political and civic group, has marked the birthday of Dr Famous Sayerigha Eseduwo with a strong call for his consideration as the next Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, describing him as a figure uniquely qualified to fill the leadership vacuum created by recent events in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the organisation said the birthday celebration goes beyond personal milestones, framing it as a moment to reflect on Dr Eseduwo’s decades of service, integrity and contributions to governance at local, state and federal levels.

From Niger Delta roots to national service
Polivox traced Dr Eseduwo’s journey from Angalabiri Town in the creeks of the Niger Delta to senior positions in Nigeria’s public service, describing his rise as a testament to perseverance, scholarship and principled leadership.
The group noted that his academic background spans the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the University of Texas, where he developed expertise in African development and public administration. A fellow of professional institutes and a management consultant, Eseduwo was described as an intellectual with practical governance experience.
Track record in governance and public administration
According to the statement, Dr Eseduwo’s career includes serving as Chairman of Tarakiri Local Government, where he reportedly set enduring standards in grassroots governance. He also worked at the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Service Commission and as Director-General of the Bayelsa State Arts and Culture Bureau, positions in which Polivox said he transformed public institutions into tools for empowerment and development.
At the federal level, the group credited him with contributing to reforms across ministries including communications, petroleum, works and housing, as well as helping to recover substantial funds for Bayelsa State through strategic public service interventions.
Bayelsa faces representation gap after deputy governor’s death
Shifting focus to current political realities, Polivox said Bayelsa State is at a critical juncture following the death of Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, which it said has created a gap not only in leadership but also in equity and representation.

The group stressed that the Bayelsa West Senatorial District and Constituency 1, which previously held the office, should not be sidelined, warning that doing so would undermine the principles of fairness and rotational justice in the state’s political arrangement.
Polivox positions Eseduwo as preferred choice
Polivox argued that Dr Eseduwo stands out as a candidate capable of restoring balance, competence and public confidence.
“In this moment of need, there emerges a figure uniquely equipped to restore continuity, competence and confidence. Dr Famous Eseduwo is that figure,” the statement said.
The group described him as a blend of grassroots understanding and federal exposure, combining academic depth with administrative experience.
“He is not a candidate of convenience, but of capability, prepared by life, tested by service and devoted to progress,” it added.
Appeal to governor and stakeholders
Using the birthday celebration as a platform for advocacy, Polivox appealed directly to the Governor of Bayelsa State and other political stakeholders to consider Eseduwo for the deputy governorship position.
“To His Excellency, the Governor of Bayelsa State, here is a partner whose loyalty, intellect and energy will complement your vision for a prosperous Bayelsa,” the statement read.
The group also called on traditional rulers, elders, women, youth and political leaders to rally behind what it described as a unifying figure whose credibility cuts across divides.
Call for unity, equity and stability
Polivox concluded that the moment should not be treated as merely filling a vacant office, but as an opportunity to strengthen governance in the state.
“Let us seize an opportunity to choose a Deputy Governor who embodies the best of Bayelsa’s past, the diligence of its present and the promise of its future,” the statement said.
The group ended by wishing Dr Eseduwo a happy birthday and expressing hope that his next chapter of service would be one that contributes to unity, stability and progress in Bayelsa State.
The statement was signed by Werenipre Johnson Ebikeme, Public Relations Officer of Polivox, in advocacy for what the group described as principled leadership.
