Just In: Tinubu Told To Immediately Suspend and Probe Wike, Reasons Emerge
- Ex-APC spokesperson Timi Frank urged President Tinubu to suspend FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over alleged US property scandal involving his family
- Frank criticised Tinubu’s silence, saying selective justice and political shielding damage public trust and may be linked to 2027 election interests
- He called for an independent probe, warning that shielding Wike while suspending others like Betta Edu undermines Nigeria’s anti-corruption fight

Furthermore, Frank also called for a probe into his alleged property scandal in the United States.

“President Tinubu acted swiftly to suspend Betta Edu over allegations far less serious than those confronting Minister Wike. The same commitment to accountability is required here,” he declared.
Allegations of hidden US properties
According to reports, Wike allegedly acquired property in Florida, which he allegedly registered under the names of his wife, Justice Eberechi Wike, and his children, Joaquin, Jazmyne, and Jordan.
Frank argued that the evidence, already in the public domain, had been ignored by anti-graft agencies.
“With detailed reports from credible sources such as People’s Gazette and Sahara Reporters, and glaring evidence dismissed by the EFCC and ICPC, it sends a dangerous message that some officials are untouchable,” he lamented.

Frank, who also serves as the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, criticised President Tinubu’s silence on the matter.
He warned that impunity and political shielding erode public trust in governance.
“When crises erupted in Rivers State, President Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the House of Assembly but left Wike untouched. This inconsistency fuels suspicions of political favouritism,” he said.
Concerns over 2027 political calculations
Frank suggested that political interests linked to the 2027 presidential election may explain the Presidency’s reluctance to act.
“The reasons behind this inaction appear tied to political calculations. But shielding corruption for political ambition will irreparably damage Nigeria’s international reputation,” he warned.
He further noted,
“The world is watching. Selective justice undermines investor confidence and portrays Nigeria as a nation unwilling to tackle corruption—even at the highest levels of government.”
Call for independent investigation
Frank insisted that no official should feel untouchable, warning against arrogance in governance.
“We urge President Tinubu to suspend and commission an independent investigation into Minister Wike, just as was done with Betta Edu. Selective enforcement of the law makes Nigeria a laughing stock among nations,” he said.
The activist commended investigative journalists, including Omoyele Sowore of Sahara Reporters and the publishers of People’s Gazette, for their courage in exposing corruption.
Nigerians react as Wike is dragged before US government
Previously, Legit.ng reported that Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, has petitioned the Attorney General of the State of Florida, alleging that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, illegally owns some properties in the US state.
Deji Adeyanju, the legal counsel to the former Nigerian presidential candidate, shared the petition on social media, saying that Wike, who was the immediate past governor of Rivers State, had acquired the property through the proceeds of corruption.
