The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, paid a courtesy visit on Sunday to the Olubadan designate, Rashidi Ladoja, at his private residence in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The visit, which drew considerable attention across the region, marked a symbolic gesture of unity and respect between two of the most revered traditional rulers in Yorubaland.

The PUNCH reported that Oba Ladoja is set to be installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan on Friday, 26 September 2025. His ascension follows the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on Monday, 7 July 2025, at the age of 90.
As the Ooni arrived at the Bodija residence, he was received at the entrance by Oba Ladoja, who was flanked by members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
The two monarchs exchanged warm pleasantries before proceeding into the parlour, where the royal engagement formally commenced.
High chiefs and cultural groups attend colourful reception
The reception was described as colourful and dignified, attracting a wide array of Yoruba traditional stakeholders.
High chiefs, Baales, Mogajis, socio-cultural groups, and title holders gathered in anticipation of the historic meeting between the Ooni and the incoming Olubadan.
The atmosphere was one of celebration and reverence, with traditional leaders and community figures expressing their joy at the occasion.
The two paramount rulers are currently exchanging pleasantries.

Who is Rashidi Ladoja?
Rashidi Ladoja is a prominent Nigerian statesman and traditional figure, widely respected for his contributions to governance and Yoruba cultural heritage.
A former governor of Oyo State, he served from 2003 to 2007, earning recognition for his focus on education, infrastructure, and public welfare. Beyond politics, Ladoja has remained deeply rooted in Ibadan’s traditional leadership structure, holding the prestigious title of Otun Olubadan before his recent elevation.
Following the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin in July 2025, Ladoja was named the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan, with his installation scheduled for 26 September 2025.

Tinubu to attend Ladoja’s coronation as 44th Olubadan
Legit.ng earlier reported that Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, is set to host a landmark celebration as former governor Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja becomes the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The coronation will take place on Friday, September 26, at the historic Mapo Hall grounds with President Bola Tinubu confirmed to attend alongside prominent Yoruba monarchs, political leaders, business figures, and thousands of indigenes.
