Niger Delta Coalition Lauds Tantita Security as Crude Oil Losses Hit 16-Year Low

Tantita Security Services Limited has been commended for its crucial contribution to tackling crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
The commendation followed a report by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), which showed that daily crude oil losses had fallen to 9,600 barrels per day (bpd) as of July 2025—the lowest level in 16 years.

Operatives risking their lives
The statement issued in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, the coalition spokesman Comrade Abalagha Adawari commended Tantita’s operatives.
Specifically, he praised their bravery and dedication in protecting critical oil pipelines, despite facing constant threats to their lives.
NUPRC report shows record progress
NUPRC reports that crude oil losses from theft and metering errors have dropped to about 9,600 barrels per day (bpd).
More so, from January to July 2025, the country recorded a total of 2.04 million barrels lost, averaging 9,600 bpd within the seven months. This represents the lowest level of losses since 2009, when figures stood at 8,500 bpd.
Coalition says devt instrumental for Niger Delta
The coalition attributed this progress to Tantita’s strategic interventions and deep knowledge of the Niger Delta’s terrain, which have proven instrumental in tackling oil theft.
Speaking still, Adawari said that the Tantita’s operatives were uniquely equipped to address the challenge.
He added that their efforts had brought about a remarkable turnaround for Nigeria’s upstream oil sector.

It cautioned against giving room for saboteurs to undermine the gains achieved.
How Nigeria records16-year low in crude oil
From January to July 2025, total crude oil losses amounted to 2.04 million barrels, averaging 9,600 bpd. This marks a 50.2% reduction compared to the 4.1 million barrels lost in all of 2024.
