A group of civil society organisations (CSOs) has disapproved of what it described as a “campaign of lies and misinformation” against the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Bayo Ojulari.

A statement signed by the convener, Hon. Awaal Dairu, and by Legit.ng on Wednesday, September 10, the coalition accused certain individuals of an attempt to derail reforms at NNPC and undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Furthermore, the CSOs commended Ojulari for introducing discipline, efficiency, and foresight into NNPC’s operations.

They noted that since he assumed office, Nigeria has not experienced fuel scarcity or long queues, panic buying, saying it is a stark contrast to previous years of uncertainty.

The statement revealed that through Ojulari's constructive dialogue with unions, oil marketers, and key stakeholders, harmony and stability in the downstream sector have been fostered.

They added that while embedding best practices in governance and accountability, they have restored confidence among Nigerians and international partners.

Under his leadership, the era of favouritism and patronage contracts has ended, as only competent contractors with proven capacity are shortlisted for projects.

His approach continues to reassure local and international investors, signalling Nigeria’s commitment to a transparent, stable, and investment-friendly energy sector.
