APC's plans for Rivers state

Okocha declared that the APC's victory in 20 of the state's 23 local government areas in the recent by-election is a sign of what's to come in the 2027 general election.

He emphasised that the party is working hard to make Rivers State an "APC State."

Fubara loyalists shun LG election

The APC's recent victory in 20 of 23 local government areas in Rivers state is seen by the party as a precursor to the 2027 general electionst election on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The council election for the chairmanship and councillorship positions was held across the 23 LGAs of the state.

It was gathered that electoral materials arrived at Fubara’s unit in Ward 5, Opobo, in Opobo/Nkoro LGA around 11am, but the embattled governor and his supporters were conspicuously absent.

Fubara did not show up to exercise his constitutional duty until voting was concluded in the area around 3:30 pm. This development is coming after Fubara mended fences with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike, his political godfather.
