The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state has vowed to work with Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor, when he finally returns.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had suspended the governor and declared a state of emergency in the state after a protracted rift with the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking, the chairman of APC in Rivers state, Chief Tony Okocha, made this disclosure on Tuesday, August 29, while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
We will criticise and accept him, says Okocha
Okocha stated that while it will cooperate with Governor Fubara when he returns, it will also not hesitate to criticize him if necessary.
Okocha clarified that the newly elected APC local government chairmen would work with the governor but would not support "vicious policies."
APC's Plans for Rivers State
Okocha declared that the APC's victory in 20 of the state's 23 local government areas in the recent by-election is a sign of what's to come in the 2027 general election.
He emphasised that the party is working hard to make Rivers State an "APC State."
He also confirmed that the party will continue to recruit new members, with a particular focus on wooing key figures like the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as well as members of the State House of Assembly and other stakeholders.
The goal, he said, is to triple the party's support base by 2027 to secure a second term for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He explained that the party strategically chose not to field candidates in areas where it lacked strength, such as Obio Akpor, Port Harcourt City, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, to focus on areas where it had a better chance of winning.
