Brasília, Brazil - Brazil on Monday, August 25, accorded Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, full military honours at the Planalto Palace in Brasília.

The elaborate ceremony featured Brazil’s military contingent as part of the official welcome.

The event has been widely interpreted as a signal of Brazil’s intent to strengthen bilateral ties with Nigeria, particularly in trade, energy, and defence cooperation.

President Bola Tinubu has addressed the business communities and ministers at Palácio do Planalto, the capital of Brazil, during his two-day visit to the South American country.

In his address, President Tinubu expressed regret that Nigeria and Brazil should have been doing what he had come to do long before now. The president then commended the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Tinubu meets top US official in France

Previously, Legit.ng reported President Bola Tinubu held a meeting with the United States (US) State Department's senior advisor, Massad Boulos in Paris, France.

The US Mission Nigeria shared the update on Friday, April 11, via its verified X (formerly known as Twitter) page with accompanying pictures of Messrs Tinubu and Boulos.

During the meeting, on Thursday, April 10, President Tinubu and the US official discussed regional security, including working together with partners to build a durable peace in eastern DR Congo. Tinubu is the chairman of the authority of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) heads of state and government. The two men also discussed expanding opportunities for economic cooperation throughout Africa.
