Customs Impounds N905m Rolls-Royce, Benz, Other Contrabands in Ogun

Idiroko, Ogun state - Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have impounded three exotic cars, including a 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost with a duty paid value of N905m.

The NCS Ogun 1 Area Command also seized a 2014 4matic Benz with a duty paid value of over N21m and a 2018 model of Honda Accord with a duty paid value of over N32m.

The Ogun 1 Area Command Controller, Comptroller Godwin Otunla, listed other seized items to include: 4424 bags of foreign parboiled rice (over 7 truckloads), 1936 parcels of c@nnabis sativa, 105 used tyres with the total duty paid.

As reported by The Punch, Otunla said the value for all the seizures within the period under review stands at N1,401,531,923.95.

He made this known while speaking at a briefing held in Idiroko, Ogun state, on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

“In addition to these anti-smuggling feats, the Command also, in July 2025, generated a total revenue of N45,054,191.00, which is higher than the N35,327,852.00 recorded in the corresponding month of 2024. representing a commendable increase of 27.47%.
“This remarkable growth is a reflection of our enhanced compliance drive, improved monitoring of border activities, and robust stakeholder engagement.”

The Controller equally sounded a clear warning to the smugglers and their collaborators, pledging that the command will not relent in its crackdown against the economic saboteurs.

“We remain vigilant, resolute, and unyielding. No matter the sophistication of your tricks, our officers will continue to thwart your antics, and we shall bring the full weight of the law against you.”

Customs seizes N352m worth of smuggled goods

Recall that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Western Marine Command in Apapa, Lagos, seized over three trucks carrying N212 million worth of smuggled rice and additional contraband Compt.

Patrick Ntadi credited the success to increased cooperation with other security agencies, the deployment of more patrol vessels, and greater intelligence gathering.

The confiscated c*nnabis was handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), which praised the ongoing collaboration between the agencies.

Customs seizes N238m worth of smuggled fuel

In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that the Nigeria Customs Service is keeping up its anti-smuggling operations and has made major seizures.

Smuggled fuel worth about N238 million was intercepted and seized in several recent operations.

The comptroller-general of Customs explained the reasons the criminals engage in fuel smuggling.
