Gunmen Abduct 2 Monarchs in Imo, Set Their Palaces, Vehicles on Fire

  • Gunmen have invaded two palaces in Okigwe local government area of Imo state and the traditional rulers
  • The abducted monarchs who palaces were also burnt are Acho Ndukwe of Amagu Ihube and Paul Ogbu of Ihitte Ihube

Okigwe LGA, Imo state - Gunmen have abducted two monarchs, Acho Ndukwe of Amagu Ihube and Paul Ogbu of Ihitte Ihube, both in the Okigwe local government area of Imo state.

Daily Trust reported that the gunmen who whisked away the royal fathers on Sunday, December 12, also burnt their palaces and vehicles.

Legit.ng gathers that the gunmen also kidnapped the youth leader of Umulolo Okigwe whose name is yet to be ascertained.

Sources cited by Daily Trust said the operation lasted from 12 midnight till 1am on Sunday.

One of the sources said:

“It was something else in the early hours of Sunday. They came in Hilux vehicles and kidnapped the two monarchs and burnt their palaces and vehicles.
“They also kidnapped the youth leader of Umuololo-Okigwe. Eze Ndukwe is the chairman of Council of Traditional rulers in Okigwe LGA.
“He is also the chairman and CEO of Genesis Hotel, Okigwe. Nobody can comprehend this attack. The communities are bewildered, highly confused.”

The Punch reported that the gunmen also invaded the country home of a community leader in Umulolo-Okigwe, Fabian Nwosu, and vandalised his house.

Mike Abattam, the spokesperson for the police in the state, disclosed that the command had commenced an investigation into the incident.

In a related development, the ancient kingdom of Atta in Njaba local government area of Imo state has been thrown into mourning following the murder of its traditional ruler, Eze Edwin Azike.

Azike's body was found at the community market square on Friday morning, December 10.

It was gathered that the monarch was killed after he was abducted on Thursday, December 9. An anonymous source said four people were shot dead on Thursday after the monarch was kidnapped.
