Blogger Tosin Silverdam has reacted to the outcome of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The award ceremony took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos State, with many actors and actresses going home with award plaques.

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele’s film Behind the Scenes had received six nominations, with many expecting her to win the Best Supporting Actress category, a nomination she had secured months earlier, before voting commenced.
Reacting to what he described as a “snub,” Silverdam said Akindele did not win in any of the six categories her movie was nominated in. He added that her fans have claimed it was all politics and that the actress had outgrown that category of awards.

Reacting, some fans agreed with him, stating that even Toyin Abraham did not win any category, and that the nominations she received were not major ones.
They added that Akindele should step aside and allow younger talents to shine, noting that the award organisers now seem focused on rewarding the new generation. Others said AMVCA was not “anyone’s family affair,” while congratulating Linda Ejiofor, who won Best Supporting Actress.
Recall that Funke Akindele’s Behind the Scenes grossed over N2 billion at the cinema after its release, with the actress previously celebrating the milestone.

Funke Akindele reacts to criticism about film
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Nollywood actress shared a video where she was praying seriously in the Yoruba language.
She was on a movie location with her cast and crew when she decided to pray about her project.
Funke Akindele also went against all the forces that would not allow the project to be a success. However, a fan scolded her for it.
