Afrobeats megastar Davido has defended his close friend and associate, Ubi Franklin, following allegations making the rounds online.

Earlier this week, social media was abuzz after Wizkid’s associate, Tufab, reposted claims about a stolen watch in Miami, suggesting Ubi’s name was connected to the incident.

The reports quickly drew public attention and even a reaction from Davido’s elder brother, Adewale Adeleke.

In a statement released on Wednesday, August 13, Ubi Franklin dismissed the claims as completely false and misleading.

His statement read:

“I am aware of the recent circulation on social media linking my name to an alleged theft. The allegations are unfounded and entirely untrue.”

The music executive stressed that the story being pushed online had no basis and was designed to tarnish his image.

However, responding, Davido took to Ubi Franklin’s comment section with a strong message.

The singer made it clear that Franklin owed no one an explanation over the matter. Instead of dwelling on the drama, Davido redirected the spotlight to happier moments.

For Davido, the lavish Miami wedding he had with his wife, Chioma, remains untouched by any online gossip.

He added:

“We had an amazing wedding, perfect in fact! Me and my wife’s body still dey sweet us like this.NOTHING una fit do, say, or make up will ever change the fact that we had a fairytale wedding! And one of the best days—if not the best day—of our lives! The whole world celebrated us"
