Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shared a deeply personal insight into her single status, saying it was never part of her life plan.

In a heartfelt interview with Pulse Nigeria, the 52-year-old screen legend revealed that she once found the man she believed she would marry, but fate had other plans.

She said:

“I haven’t found the person I would spend the rest of my life with. I did once, but he passed away, and since then, I haven’t found another. I can’t live a lie, I have to be true to myself and to God"

Marriage as a holy covenant

Bimbo, whose mother is from Edo State and father from Oyo State, described marriage as a sacred commitment that should be celebrated in God’s house, surrounded by loved ones.

For her, marriage is not about ticking societal boxes but finding a partner for life.

She emphasised:

“I could only marry someone I am certain I can be with forever. Honesty and truth are non-negotiable"

The actress, who has no children, said she remains open to marriage, even in her later years.

She declared with a smile:

“If I meet the right person in my late seventies, I will marry him"

She also highlighted the value of companionship, especially in the later stages of life when children have grown and moved away.

She stated:

“Marriage is important, especially as you get older. Loneliness is real, and everyone needs a companion for the later years"
