The company insists that the claims are nothing but a smear campaign aimed at damaging the reputation of one of Africa’s leading luxury real estate developers.

In a statement issued by its Group Managing Director, Dr. Sijibomi Ogundele, the firm said the allegations were completely baseless and would not go unchallenged.

Twelve years of integrity and vision

“There is no fraud, nor any falsehood. What exists is a delay and nothing more,” Ogundele declared. “Yet from this delay, some have chosen to fabricate lies, weaponize rumours, and maliciously mislead the public. Those responsible will be held fully accountable — legally, morally, and financially..

For over a decade, Sujimoto has built a reputation for excellence, integrity, and innovation, delivering world-class real estate projects such as The Giuliano, LucreziaBySujimoto, and the Leonardo, a project widely regarded as one of Africa’s most sophisticated luxury developments.

According to the company, the Leonardo project has encountered understandable delays caused by bureaucratic hurdles and Nigeria’s current economic climate. However, it emphasizes that the delay does not amount to fraud or deceit.

“The Leonardo project was never abandoned or denied,” the statement noted. “Every legitimate refund request from clients has been processed transparently and verifiably.”

According to a Premium Times report, the company added that it has honored all verified refund requests through a structured and traceable process, emphasizing that its operations are built on transparency, not deception.

Taking legal action against defamation

Expressing deep concern over what it termed the “weaponization of public institutions and social media,” Sujimoto vowed to take decisive legal action against those responsible for spreading the defamatory claims.

“It is troubling that some have chosen to use false narratives to settle civil disputes, undermining both the rule of law and public trust,” Ogundele said.
“We will petition and sue to ensure justice is served and our reputation restored.”

A legacy built on excellence and impact

Beyond its luxury developments, Sujimoto Holdings has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s economy, paying over ₦7 billion in wages, empowering thousands of artisans, and creating architectural landmarks that symbolize ambition and innovation.

Sujimoto opens up About Davido's Banana Island house

Legit.ng earlier reported that a prominent Lagos-based real estate company, Sujimoto Group, has addressed speculations surrounding singer David Adeleke, aka Davido's Banana Island property.

This response followed a social media stir caused by Davido's colleague and perceived rival, Burna Boy (Damini Ogulu), who shared a series of posts containing subtle jabs.

In one post, Burna Boy appeared to critique an unnamed individual, suggesting they falsely claimed to own a house in Banana Island when it was merely rented. He concluded by advising the artist to strive for more in the coming year.
